Wandering in the city

Wanted to post another set of pictures long time ago, before the summer actually, but never did. I guess it's because I went back to hometown for the summer and was mostly enjoying the life where mum took care of everything. Uhhh, this kind of comfy life is too precious, only get to have very few weeks of it every year. So I turned my productivity down to 0 for the whole summer…

And now I'm back.

I wrote ''Summer has passed, even though it's only august. Copenhagen is windy everyday, windy AND rainy. Feels like late autumn already. Hope there are few more warm days to come.'' When I first wrote this post, but voila! The weather has been such a surprise since it entered September, it has been like summer the whole time, 22 degrees today, it's almost like tropical for this northern country. This is making my life slightly better from the thesis stress.

I never say no to wondering in the city. I've lived in Copenhagen for quite a few years, but there are still lots of places to be discovered.

Gonna put on some pictures that were taken before the summer vacation, when I went for a stroll with Wan, as we planned to take a set of photos of her. She's quite photogenic, you'll see.

Anyway, this set is taken at several places in Copenhagen, the Lakes (Søerne), Sydhavnen area and Island Brygge.

After screening these photos I realised my favorite background/environment for portrait photos are those extremely simple ones, plain colors or patterns. So might actually try another set with her.

Enjoy the last bit of summer!

Corrupted picture files

I just experienced the first and worst shock since I started taking portrait photos. My SD card was somehow corrupted in my own trustworthy laptop before I can even copy and save them on the computer or my external hard drive…

The worst part is, it was a practice shoot but also supposed to be used for this friend's art work. When I first realized the photo was gone, I couldn't believe it and tried everything to make them show up again, I tried to put the SD card back to the camera, tried to put the card back in the mac again but the only thing there was just a weird file that can't be opened, and it was named with some weird symbols.

I panicked, which I rarely do! I tried all the methods to repair the memory card, but nothing… eventually I decided to pay about 300 kr. to buy this StellarPhoenix repairing software, and it worked, I got around 120 pictures back… until I found out they were mostly thumbnail files… my mood was like on a roller coaster.

Anyway, I got about 15 undamaged pictures back, which are of course not the best ones.

Learned the lesson, will always copy and save all the pictures before I touch any of the files on the SD card… But this will always happen, it can't be completely avoided I guess. Then I do recommend this StellarPhoenix repairing software, this company has a series of softwares for different problems, personally I only recommend the one called 'StellarPhoenix Photo Recovery' tho, as it has actually recovered some pictures, and many other free or cheaper memory card repairing software did not even recover anything. The JPEG repairing software from this company, however, did not repair any pictures to a usable condition.

Enough about the depressing SD card incident for now. I took some picture with my iphone recently and really like them, wanna share with you :)

The other day I was having a 'reduce the guilt from eating too much sweets' walk, I saw this by the water between Christianhavn and Amager.

And yes, the World Cup. It made Island Brygge extra cozy, as Danish people say, hyggeligt :) I went there for a few times when the sun was generous, and the dusk view at that area, is simply amazing.

Always love the dusk, it's my favorite time of the day. And the dusk of Danish summer surprises me, every time.

A quite surprising discovery

As a person that can get distracted by so many things so easily, I am always looking for comfortable places to study, no, really. I don't know why but I can't really do that at home, and school is always packed, so I prefer some nice and quite but not too quite cafés.

One day, when I was 'struggling' at home again, Yue called and told me she's been studying at a new campus of her school, KEA, which is near Empire Bio in Nørrebro, and it has quite nice environment. It's always fun to explore new places, especially when your friends recommend them to you, so I went there for a stroll.

It turned out to be quite a little surprise :D

Really like the industrial elements in the little café, and all the designing feelings. It's not crowded at all, but still has some studying atmosphere, me like.

New earrings

Well, to be precise these are not the newest, but they are my current favorite.

Big earrings and small studs really make huge difference on many people. I have been looking for something small but not as small as studs, for a long time, and I was sooooo happy when I found these from & Other Stories, of course, Stories again ;)

Another casual working day. Guess I should smile a bit more.

Top: & Other Stories
Necklace: & Other Stories
Jeans: Levi's
Ankle boots: & Other Stories

Well well, crazy fan indeed. Really like their designs.

When the Italian meets the Scandinavian ocean

Another photo session last sunday :D with Alessia. She actually does some photo shooting as well, but she thought it would be fun to do it the other way round sometimes, so I got a new model.

I really like some simple environment, but I guess I haven't explored Copenhagen that well yet, couldn't think of any new interesting place. We went to Amager Strand again at last.

It turns out not bad at all, I guess having a pretty model helps… a lot. I really like quite a few photos, that's why it took me a while to struggle with myself and to pick around 20 pieces out of 110.

The Italian mermaid.

Really love the last one, it's so sweet!

Gleaming lights of the souls

Speaking of Louisiana, which I mentioned in my last post, I have to bring one specific installation art up. I'm quite fascinated by installation arts recently, as you can probably see from a previous post. And this one at Louisiana, Gleaming Lights of the Souls by Yayoi Kusama, is the one that got me really interested in this kind of art.

It's a sealed room, you can barely notice it because it is at a almost invisible corner. But there is alway a queue in front of the little door. Such a shame that you can stay inside for a longer time.

Whenever I enter that room, I just feel absolutely peaceful. It's a very small room but because of the mirrors it also feels like infinity.

Gleaming lights of the souls, couldn't be more accurate!

Louisiana

This was last year, late autumn, I asked Wan for a Louisiana tour with me. It has been more than half year already, time flies indeed.

Long dress is perfect for scandinavian late spring

Anyhow, I finally decided to also post about some of my favorite pieces in my closet. And this will be the first.

It was a bit windy but still a warm sunny day today. I went to meet with a friend at her school, we both need to catch up with some school work apparently :P Sitting together was not really a productive way to get work done, but for what it's worth, it was cozy and nice :)

So here is the set.

Dress: Jersey A-Line dress from & Other Stories
Long necklace: Rhinestone pendant necklace from & Other Stories
Short necklace: gift from mum
Shoes: & Other Stories

Yes I'm a crazy fan of & Other Stories. Definitely more to come.

Experiment 3

So new set of work :)

Sunday evening I met up with Mona as we planned. When I was approaching the meeting place we agreed on, I saw her in a light weighted black dress, which was wafting in the wind, it looked nice.

She was carrying a big bag with quite a few 'props'.

I have only met her once, at a friend's party. Without so much knowledge about her, we had to warm up a bit while we try to explore the area that was gonna be our 'studio'. At last, nature was gonna be the theme.

I thought the warm sunny weather and the lovely nature would fit the girl who told me that one should try to become best friends with oneself.

And summer is coming.
